Group exhibition showcases Akhono Shundor’ in Watercolour

Shilpangan Gallery has organized a unique group art exhibition, titled “Akhono Shundor.” The exhibition features watercolour paintings by eight young artists who have encapsulated the beauty of the country through their brush strokes on paper.

Participating artists at the exhibition are Saleh Kazol, Al Sarker, Akhir Palash Datta, Shaymal Biswas, Abdullah Al Bashir, Sonya Binta Hasan, Ratnashwar Sutradhar and Kamruzzoha Zzoha. The artists travelled across the country to gather the essence of the beauty of both rural and urban Bangladesh aesthetically. They demonstrated their skill-sets by a controlled usage of colour.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition was held on February 24. Tahrin Aman, Chairman, Child Foundation inaugurated the exhibition as chief guest, while Artist Rashid Amin was present as special guests. Senior painters, journalists and cultural activists were also present at the inaugural session. The exhibition features landscapes of Bangladesh.

Gallery Shilpangan started its journey in 1992 to create a platform for aspiring artists. The forerunner of Bangladesh’s social and cultural movements, renowned journalist Faiz Ahmad with his friends, including the first chairman of the gallery Barrister Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed founded the gallery on May 14, 1992. Although there were a few art galleries at the time, Shilpangan emerged as the first full-fledged gallery under a private initiative.
