About the artist

Ahmed Shamsuddoha was born in Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh, in 1958. Bengal’s scenic beauty, bucolic panoramas, the rivers, life in Old Dhaka and the ravages of flood have long been the subjects of his paintings He graduated in Drawing and Painting from the Bangladesh College of Arts and Crafts, Dhaka, in 1980. Shamsuddoha set out as a landscape painter but eventually moved to surrealism in the early nineties. His awards include the Grameen Phone Award; 17th National Art Exhibition, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Dhaka, 2007; Bengal Foundation Award, 16th National Art Exhibition Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Dhaka, 2005; S M Sultan Grand Award, Silver Jubilee of Saju Art Gallery, Dhaka, 1999. Shamsuddoha is a freelance artist who lives and works in Dhaka.

Using Materials:
  • Bubble wrap
  • Packing tape
  • Corrugated box

Step 1: To protect against moisture, wrap the artwork with plastic sheeting/poly wrap or put it inside a heavy plastic bag. Use tape to seal all areas where water can enter and cause damage.

Step 2: Wrap the entire work with bubble wrap for a protective padding. Using tape to secure it shut.

Step 3: Place the bubble wrap-covered painting into a corrugated box. Fill the empty space with enough wadded/shredded paper to ensure that the artwork doesn’t shift during transit.

Step 4: Use the packing tape to seal the box.

Step 5: Affix the delivery address to the package and put clear tape over the label so it doesn’t get removed during handling.


Tube packaging for canvas or flat painting on paper/board
Using Materials:
  • Bubble wrap
  • Packaging tape
  • Cardboard roll

Step 1: Sandwich your canvas between two layers of acid free archival paper. Make sure that the canvas is completely covered by the paper.

Step 2: Roll the paper-covered artwork—paint side outward—around the smaller tube to provide inner support.

Step 3: Next, roll a layer of bubble wrap around the artwork for padding and to seal out moisture. Seal completely with tape.

Step 4: Place this tube within the outer mailing tube. Fill extra space at the ends with extra bubble wrap/ wadded/shredded paper. Place the end caps on and seal them shut with packing tape.

Step 5: Affix the delivery address to the package and put clear tape over the label so it doesn’t get removed during handling.
